Arthur DeFever designed a line of commercial fishing hulls which became popular with yachtsmen, who then modified them for long-range family cruising. While no longer in production, there are still many options to buy a DeFever on the brokerage market. One of those opportunities is this 1986 DeFever 72, known as Neptune II. It’s offered by Curtis Stokes Yacht Sales for $395,000

Neptune II is powered by twin Caterpillar 3306 main engines which give it a maximum speed of 12 knots and a cruising speed of 7 knots. With its fuel capacity of 2,200 gallons, range at cruise is excellent. As of summer 2025, the engines have approximately 3,500 hours on them.
