For Sale: Viking 72 Convertible

Known for having an excellent mix of fishability as well as the ability to travel long distances in comfort, the Viking 72 remains one of the most sought after yachts on the brokerage market. Sandbob is a 2021 Viking 72 located in Ocean City, Maryland, and offered by HMY Yacht Sales for $6.375 million.

Sandbob is a one-owner yacht, always attended to by a full-time professional crew and serviced exclusively at the Viking Yachts service center. It’s been continually upgraded and maintained with an open checkbook. 

Among the many maintenance checks, the boat is Perma Guard ceramic coated every six months. In 2025, the vessel received a new Seakeeper sphere with serviceable bearing and platinum warranty to July 2025. The three 19-inch SeaTronix displays at the helm were also new in 2025, along with ElectroSea Sea Strong pumps, new hydraulic arms for the outriggers, new exterior cushions and more. 

Sandbob is powered by twin MTU 16V2000 M96L engines rated at 2,635 hp each, with ZF Marine transmissions. They give the vessel a 37-knot cruise speed and nearly 45 knots at wide-open throttle.

The layout features four staterooms including crew quarters and five heads, including a day head for convenience while fishing or cruising. In the galley, there are the following amenities and appliances: 

• Island galley with abundant drawer and shelf storage throughout
• Undercounter refrigerator and freezer, drawer style (4) fridge and (2) freezer
• Clear ice maker
• Sharp microwave/convection
• Stainless steel undermount sink with garbage disposal
• Miele 4-burner surface mount cooktop

The VIPER system is fly-by-wire, and you can adjust the amount of toe for each rudder, resulting in a responsive wheel. In addition to being fast and nimble on the run, the 72C has handling that means fish should be afraid. Our test vessel backed down smoke-free at 7 knots and spun on a dime.

Anglers will also appreciate the 209-square-foot cockpit. In-deck fish boxes will hold the biggest bigeye tuna, or they can be used as livewells to hold all the day’s goggle-eyes.Need more live-bait space? Two quick-connects in the cockpit scuppers can be used to add on-deck livewells. Dead-bait freezer space in the ­mezzanine will hold enough ballyhoo, mullet and mackerel for several tournaments.”
