Kimpton Bali Ubud: A New Luxury Destination in the Heart of Ubud

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) is set to make a significant mark in Bali’s hospitality landscape with the introduction of its luxury lifestyle brand, Kimpton, in Ubud. Scheduled to open in early 2026, Kimpton Bali Ubud will be the brand’s inaugural property in Indonesia and IHG’s first hotel in the culturally rich and spiritually vibrant town of Ubud.

A Unique Location

Nestled along the sacred Wos River, Kimpton Bali Ubud will be conveniently located within walking distance of the iconic Ubud Palace. This prime location places guests at the heart of Ubud’s artistic and cultural offerings, allowing them to immerse themselves in the local traditions and vibrant arts scene. Unlike the coastal resorts that dominate Bali’s hospitality market, Kimpton’s foray into Ubud caters to travelers seeking a diverse experience, balancing their time between the serene inland landscapes and the bustling beach resorts.

Luxurious Amenities

The new property will feature 101 elegantly designed rooms, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious stay for its guests. Among the standout amenities are three distinct restaurants, a café, a spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a refreshing pool. The culinary highlight will be Imamura, a fine-dining Japanese restaurant helmed by Chef Hirofumi Imamura, known for his Michelin-starred establishment, Kazuo Okada, in Hong Kong. This focus on high-quality dining experiences aligns with Kimpton’s commitment to providing guests with unique and memorable culinary journeys.

Catering to High-Net-Worth Travelers

The opening of Kimpton Bali Ubud presents a wealth of opportunities for travel advisors catering to high-net-worth clients. Rajit Sukumaran, IHG’s senior vice-president and managing director for East Asia and Pacific, notes a growing trend among travelers to Bali who prefer to split their stays between various regions. This shift allows them to explore the diverse offerings of the island, from the picturesque beaches in the south to the lush hills in the north. Kimpton Bali Ubud is poised to provide that unique experience, making it an attractive option for discerning travelers.

A Flourishing Hospitality Sector

The announcement of Kimpton Bali Ubud comes at a time when Bali’s hospitality sector is experiencing a remarkable resurgence. With hotel occupancy rates soaring to 75% in 2024, the island has solidified its status as a premier travel destination. Notably, Bali ranked second in Tripadvisor’s 2025 list of Top Global Destinations and claimed the top spot for Culture Destinations. This growing recognition underscores the island’s appeal and the potential for new luxury offerings.

Expanding IHG’s Portfolio in Indonesia

Kimpton Bali Ubud will join IHG’s expanding collection of luxury and lifestyle hotels across Indonesia. The group has recently launched properties such as Regent Bali Canggu and Six Senses Uluwatu, bringing its total to 31 open properties in the country, with an additional 11 in the pipeline. This expansion reflects IHG’s commitment to enhancing its presence in Indonesia, particularly in regions that offer rich cultural experiences.

Conclusion

As IHG prepares to unveil Kimpton Bali Ubud in 2026, the brand is set to redefine luxury hospitality in Ubud. With its prime location, exceptional amenities, and focus on unique experiences, Kimpton Bali Ubud promises to be a standout destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and cultural immersion. This new property not only enhances IHG’s portfolio but also contributes to Bali’s growing reputation as a must-visit destination for luxury travelers worldwide.
