From Engineer to DJ: Tom Hall’s Musical Journey in Zante

In a world where career paths often follow a predictable trajectory, Tom Hall’s story stands out as a vibrant testament to the power of passion and opportunity. Hailing from Newport, Shropshire, Hall made a bold decision to leave his full-time job as a telecoms engineer and embrace a life filled with music, sunshine, and adventure in Zante, Greece.

A Dream Realized

Tom Hall’s journey into the world of music began long before he swapped his nine-to-five for DJing on the picturesque beaches of Zante. With a love for music that has always burned brightly, Hall worked his way up from local bars to larger venues, eventually earning a spot at the renowned Ministry of Sound club. His dedication and perseverance paid off when a holiday to the Greek island turned into a life-changing opportunity.

"I used to work as a full-time engineer, now I DJ boat parties and club nights in Greece," Hall reflects. This transition was not just a career change; it was the realization of a dream he had nurtured for years.

The Call of the Decks

The pivotal moment in Hall’s career came when he was scouted while performing overseas. The vibrant atmosphere of Zante, coupled with the energy of holidaymakers, provided the perfect backdrop for his musical talents to shine. Over the summer, he found himself working four or five yacht parties each week, followed by several club nights, all while enjoying the sun by the pool during the day.

"The Zante music scene has helped me to develop my skills," he explains. "It’s allowing me to play different genres in different settings. Because people are on holiday, I feel they’ve got an added bit of energy that you wouldn’t get in a local nightclub back at home."

The Early Days of Struggle

Hall’s journey to success was not without its challenges. He recalls the desperation of his early days in the music industry, when he would burn his own tracks onto CDs and send them to record labels with a simple note that read, "play me." This determination and willingness to take risks ultimately paved the way for his current success.

"It’s a dream of mine that has come true," he says. "I’ve always wanted to go overseas and be the resident DJ on the boats and in the club nights. It was an opportunity that I had to take with both hands."

A Summer to Remember

As the summer months unfolded, Hall immersed himself in the vibrant nightlife of Zante. His experiences not only allowed him to showcase his talent but also enriched his understanding of music and performance. The thrill of playing to energetic crowds on holiday created an exhilarating atmosphere that fueled his passion even further.

After an unforgettable summer, Hall is set to return to the UK in October, where he plans to transition from the sun-soaked beaches of Greece to the lively student scene, DJing at university freshers’ parties.

Looking Ahead

While Hall acknowledges that he may need to return to his engineering job after the party season, he is now armed with a renewed sense of purpose and ambition. "In 10 years, the dream is to be headlining my own show or playing at a major festival in the UK or abroad, such as Creamfields or Tomorrowland," he smiles, embodying the spirit of someone who has truly found his calling.

Tom Hall’s journey from engineer to DJ is a compelling reminder that sometimes, taking a leap of faith can lead to the most rewarding experiences. His story inspires others to pursue their passions and embrace the opportunities that life presents, no matter how unexpected they may be.
